Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born 25th August, 1949) is an American television chef and host. She was also an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. Burrell hosts Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host with spiky blond wigs and a pumped-up persona, shows how you can cook dishes that are restaurant quality in your home with simple techniques. Chef Burrell has also worked at some of the top restaurants within New York, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy and competed on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Early on, while growing up in New York's upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. After earning an English and Communications degree at Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her passion for the business of restaurant by enroling in The Culinary Institute of America. I enjoyed every moment during my time of The Culinary Institute of America she says. I was unable to learn enough, didn't achieve enough and couldn't push myself enough. Following graduation at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners, chef Burrell took a full year in Italy learning and working in La Taverna del Lupo restaurant located in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 one Michelin rating in Tuscany. While in Italy Burrell developed a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian food and culture. This has had a profound impact on the way she approaches her cuisine. Burrell was the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board member, which aims to increase the lives of kids who are facing difficulties. Burrell also serves as an Juvenile Disease Research Foundation celebrity ambassador, and is a vocal advocate for awareness of the dangers of childhood diabetes. In her capacity as a guest speaker and teacher she travels across the U.S. to share her culinary passion and profession. Anne often has mentioned throughout her professional career that she feels so fortunate to be able communicate with people what is truly important to her.
